Antique Hand Crank Industrial Sewing Machine with Factory Bench & Stool on Wheels

  

Here is a truly unusual find - an antique industrial sewing machine with workstation on wheels. The machine: If you're familiar with Wheeler and Wilson you can recognize the body/bobbin style - this is a Model 11.

What is a bit unusual is that it was made during the time when Singer had taken over Wheeler and Wilson and you will see a mix of Singer and WW features. Instead of the usual WW marking on the inspection door it has a Singer emblem.

If you look at the view of the bobbin/bobbin case area you can see parts marked Simanco and the hinges and hand crank have Simanco numbers. It also has a serial number with "W" prefix - something you did see on the early machines during that crossover period. The machine has visible wear as you can see in the photos. The hand crank moves easily, machine moves smoothly, has bobbin case and bobbin in the machine. You can see someone improvised a replacement spool holder.

If you look at the last photo you can see it also comes with spare bobbins and spare bobbin case along with some heavy thread and a box of needles. The workstation : You can see the wood has a wonderful patina. The antique cart wheels give it a great look and also make it a lot easier to move around. It has a seat attached to the platform - seat does not raise and lower but it does swivel. It sits low - think more like a cobbler's bench vs a more traditional chair you'd use at a sewing table.

The open section under the machine would be a good place for storing extra supplies. There is wear on the wood and wheels as would be expected. The only thing I could find which I would call damage vs wear is a split on the back down low near the base.

My guess is somebody who didn't know better tried to move it and instead of keeping it horizontal, tipped it up so the weight of the machine pulled up the screws and caused the wood to split. It's not very noticeable and could be repaired if desired. If you have any questions, need any additional information please feel free to ask.
