Antique Singer Treadle Sewing Machine. Machine is a VS-2 from the 27 Series. It Features a Fiddle Base , Plain Face Plate, Split Slide Plates, and Victorian Decals. Serial Number is 9139980 dating it to 1889. The Cast Iron Base has a last patent date of 1886.
It has a Wood Top with Drop-Down Extension and Two Drawers. The wood and cast iron are untouched except for a bit of cleaning. The table/cabinet has a drop-down extension. This piece is darker than the surface of the rest of the top. The surface of the table has some surface cracking and normal wear as shown. Small chip to bottom edge of drawer area.
The drawers have a few goodies in them- scissors, a tool, spool of thread.. The machine seems to be in good condition. The wheel and needle move smoothly when turned.
But it hasn't been used in many years, so I would expect it needs a servicing. I don't know much about how treadle sewing machines work, but I think the base to sewing machine set up needs another part.
There is normal expected wear to the graphics. The face plate and slide plates have some light surface rust. Also note, the hinges that hold the machine to the table have some issues. One is broken and the other is missing a wingnut underneath. Overall, despite a few of the details mentioned above, this is an attractive antique piece. Please zoom-in for more details and let me know if you need any additional info.
