Imagine the history this machine has seen! Antique Singer 1888 Fiddle Base Sewing Machine with Roses and Daisies Decals - head only. This heavy machine would have been in a treadle cabinet. It is in good condition, especially considering its age.
The decals show wear especially along the bed, but many are in very good condition. There is corrosion to some parts (eg slides over the shuttle area) and it appears a previous owner painted the balance wheel gold. The front shuttle cover slide is loose - if you tip the machine forward, it slides off. Fitted with a treadle or a hand crank, it could be used as originally intended. I don't know if it could be fitted with an electric motor.
